Sense of Place
The White River Gallery is please to celebrate the eight annual exhibit "Sense of Place". More than 20 Michigan artists are showing photography, pastels, oils, acrylics, fabric, clay, wood and metal. Their topics range from wind-swept dunes to sunskissed waves to a new view of the Blockhouse and are sure to invoke an "I remember that!" response. Even the flotsam and jetsam of wrecked wood structures find second lives in new arrangements. In addition, Australian native Eleanor Goudreau will show her drawings at the gallery in June. Although she has training in painting, holds a degree in fashion design from Perth College and has worked as a customer in the film industry, Goudreau is concentrating on graphics in her first showing a the gallery. She will greet the public 6-9 pm June 6 to open the show. Refreshments will be served at this free event. The gallery is on the corner of Dowling and Ferry Streets in Downtown Montague. The Jungle Book
The White Lake Youth Theatre tradition continues at the playhouse as the students perform Kipling's classic story of Mowgli, the Indian boy, raised by caring wolves, befriended by Bagheera, the Panther, and Baloo, the Bear; threatened by Shere Kahn, the evil tiger. Young audiences will delight in the portrayal of the animals and fast paced action, older children will be fascinated by the character relations and the story itself; just great family entertainment. Captain Jack's Regatta
It's a beach party at Captain Jack's! The Catamaran Racing Association of Michigan invites all catamaran sailors to our A-Class Great Lakes Championship. This year we are going south of the breakwater (not to Muskegon State Park). Camping is allowed on-site across from Captain Jack's Restaurant. This is part of the new entity of MCC and its Lakeshore Business and Industrial Service Center called the Lakeshore Business Institute. The Human Race
This race is sponsored by Volunteer Muskegon. The race will be held at the Muskegon State Park Winter Sports Complex on the cross country ski trails. The race begins at 9:00 am. There is a 5K & 10 K race and a 1 mile fun walk. Prizes will be awarded to best time in each age group starting at 10 and under in 5 year increments, masters (over 40) and best male and female times for both the 10k and 5K runs. The Foreigner
This multi-award winning comedy will be the final season show for the Festival Players with Brandon Zale, Jackie Cody, Terry Ireland, Tom Harrymand and a rare state appearance by director Kevin Wurz! In a fishing lodge in rural Georgia, two Englishmen encounter assorted secrets, scandals and the KKK! All this drama because the local think Charlie is a foreigner & doesn't speak English. Cyberbullying - A Presentation for Parents
The Norton Shores Branch of the Muskegon County District Library will be hosting a presentation dealing with issues teens and pre-teens face online. This presentation will focus on Cyberbullying, educating parents on what they can do to keep their children safe online. 33% of teens have been a victim of cyberbullying. That is 1 in 3 children! That means that your child, or someone they know, has probably been victimized by a cyberbully. Our presenter will share details on the types of cyberbullies, discussion points if your child is a victim and more.
